Are they really any different?

I’ve got to admit, there are certain people, that I dislike.. but does it count as hatred as well? From what I learnt, hate is a hate that can be felt in the heart.. dislike is just a logical thing.. but that just don’t emphasize the difference enough

OR

Maybe they are just the same.

It could be that dislike is just like the soft term of hate. Like Ugly and Not Beautiful, Reject and Disapprove, etc.

In my experience, a lot of times I use the term dislike is when the persons’ way of living just don’t fit my point of view on the way a man should live. Like if that person spends all the money he earn from work for a single purpose of enjoying life (usually because he is rich enough to save for the future). Not that it’s wrong for him, it’s just wrong for me. But then, there’s a possibility that I dislike the person. Like I don’t want to hang around him that much.

However, with Hate.. is when that person is getting into my nerve. For example, if its the same guy from the “dislike” issue, if he started showing off his stuff in front of everyone. Live life lavishly, underestimate other people, use money for power, etc. Then it gets into my nerve and most likely I’ll hate him as well. Not really my problem, though, the hatred just pop up in my heart.

But, a funny thing is if you dislike someone you don’t even know. Like my dislikeness toward Duta from Sheila on 7. I never even talked to him in person, but I dislike him. Wrong? I don’t know.. it’s like people disliking George W. Bush. Or John Howard. Or Michael Jackson. Or Dr. Phil. Who knows.

Is hatred a valid thing in the bible?

Lev 19:17 - “Do not hate your brother in your heart. Rebuke your neighbor frankly so you will not share in his guilt”

Pro 13:5 – “The righteous hate what is false, but the wicked bring shame and disgrace”

Ecc 3:8 – “a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace”

Rom 12: 9 – “Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. “

Yes. Start hating.. Evil. But don’t keep it as your hobby.

If you hate someone who does/doesn’t wrong and chose not to rebuke with him/her. You are sharing his/her guilt! Be careful.

So, is there any difference between hate and dislike?

To be safe, I want to choose LOVE.

Thus, I’m trully sorry to all those I hurt and maybe showed a taste of hatred from me. Let’s make love (in a positive way :) )

Peace, Love, and Respect dude!
