My Pedal Board is done!! It’s black, sturdy, and trendy LOL!

I was too lazy to paint it so I used a spray paint, that’s why the black colour doesn’t look too good under a flashlight.. but without so much light, it looks good enough! The only issue I have is that the inside space was slightly too small and my Ernie Ball pedal are having it’s tough time trying to fit into it. I guess I will need to modify it a bit.. but overall, I consider this project a complete success!!!

Some statistic:

  • Time spent: 16-18 hours
  • Money spent on material: approx. $130
  • Money spent on equipment: $60
  • Experience gained: Priceless

LOL, although it ended up pretty expensive but the experience was really good. It was indeed a good project for me. I’m sure I can make a much better one provided a better tools and enough time. Well, If anyone interested for me to make one for you, be sure to get $300 ready, give me a good weekend off, and a 12 bottles of Crown Lager. :)

Let me know what you think!

Or see me at church this week to see it up close and personal! Hehehe..

Actually, last night I got a chance to change my guitar amplifier speaker to a Warehouse 80W 8 ohm british lead. It was a tough work pulling the old speaker out, but it was worthwhile!! So I guess I found myself a new hobby and new talent; a handyman! :)

Excited! :)

Well, phase 1 was the design I posted previously. Phase 2 was the constructing the box. Phase 3 was putting all the bits (handles, hinges, catches, castors, etc).

Finally, phase 3 was over and to those (Inex :P ) curious of the progress so far.. Ta Da!!

Not bad huh! Don’t look too closely though the alignment is horrible. :P

What will happen in phase 4, is to either paint it black or cover it with carpet material. Phase 5 is making the pedal board, phase 6 is selling the current pedal board shown in the picture. :)

More progress soon!

I’ve been looking around for a good pedal case/board but couldn’t find much that would fit my pocket. It ranges between $300 – $400. I have always been thinking about building one myself since last year, plus I have such hobby to do things myself and have always wanted to build something a bit complicated with my own hands. So I though, why not make this my next DIY project??!!

My past experience on DIY:

  • fixing a ceiling. result: FAILED miserably!
  • fixing a leaking water tap. result: I tried but it was never fixed. :(
  • replacing a coolant in my car. result: complete success!
  • replacing oil in my car. result: left a HUGE stain on someone’s garage.. eekk
  • upgrading my guitar effect TS9 to TS808. result: SUCCESS!
  • installing tremolo bar/bigsby on my etch. result: big big success!

Seeing from those results, I have about 50% of success level.. and a bit of wasted money spent on the mistakes I made. *dough!* but hey, even Einstein failed.. the problem is we need to pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off, and start again every time we fall.. ciahhh! Bela diri neh ceritanya huahuahua…

So, this time the DIY will not about upgrading/fixing/replacing.. it’s about building/making one!!! This is what I want it to be (something like it):

To help me build it, I’ve made myself up some schematics:

DIY bottom pedalcase
DIY top pedalcase
DIY pedal board

So, the progress of DAY 1 yesterday, was I bought all of the equipments I’m going to need. Woods, hinges, catches, saw, etc etc. So far it had already cost me $120ish (OUCH!) and it will probably cost more in the next few days. Day 1 was all about sawing the woods into pieces and it took me a good 2.5 hours and it gave me a really strong right hand.. lol.. phew.. I wish I had that sawing machine that could do all the cutting instantly..

Sawing was so tiring and I could imagine how Jesus was when He was still young. After all, He WAS a carpenter! Wait… then I should pray for His guidance during this whole DIY project.. I’m pretty sure He’s a pro at this!! :D

Anyway, I will keep updating on this blog with pictures of progresses.. and hopefully I can finally finish this DIY project that had already cost me so much. There’s no turning back.. arghhh!!!

Stay tuned!
